Né, vivant et créant à Cherbourg, Pascal CHAUVEAU, bien que peintre-professionnel depuis ses jeunes années, demeure rétif au circuit habituel des marchands d’art, et cela peut expliquer son talent parfaitement individuel et véhément. Born, living and creating in Cherbourg, Pascal CHAUVEAU, although a professional painter since his youth, continues to defy the usual circuit of art dealers, and this may explain his perfectly individual and vehement talent. Heavily influenced by ancient Roman art and of a sensitivity close to surrealism that he nevertheless turns on its head, the artist likes to sprinkle his works with decisive linear signs and mysterious spirals from which arise a statue’s head, a figure, or a celestial body… Pascal CHAUVEAU appears to follow and control a subtle mechanism that accommodates realism as much as the imaginative, rendering an enthusiastic vision steeped in symbols, sensuality, and energy that the variety of techniques and compositions absorbs in a brilliant creativity. The impact of the past on the present and a vision of the future unite in powerfully constructed but surprisingly elegant paintings of an incredible and suggestive finesse that the impeccable mastery of colours transforms into genuine mirrors to the world of the imagination.
